Quick morning snowshoe
From Carson pass as a morning snowshoe on our drive back to the bay area. Beautiful day.

First snow of the season
Just got back from elephants back. The snow made things fairly difficult at first because there was no obvious trail. so i started from carson snow park near red lake it was about a mile of zig zagging in fresh powder through trees until i was able to see elephants back. from there it was an easy hike to the top. Overall a great day trip

Practically skinned up the entire thing. Linked to Round Top via East Ridge. Fun SP outing with Mark, Vitaliy, Scott, Shane and one other mountaineering fiend.
First summitpost group outing for me -- met Misha, Diggler, keema, mrolph, mountainvoodoo and Dragger. We bagged this thing as a consolation prize after turning back from Round Top's east ridge (which in retrospect was not such a bad thing :)
I hiked up Elephant's Back a couple of times on the way up to Round Top.

Climbed this with my 2 yr 10 month old son. He had a blast and hiked all the way to Winnemucca Lake by himself. Nice views from the summit of Red Lake Peak and the many local lakes.

Went south to Highland Peak next day and Tioga Pass after that
Nice and easy climb from Carson Pass. Hiked this one with Devin (4.5 yrs old). The kid is really turning into quite the trooper. Cool and windy day but the views were great.

Descent from Round Top
Tagged with Hakan (sierrawolf), south slope up, north slope down. The "weird fissure" on the summit ridge was filled with snow. Views of Round Top wrapped in snow is awesome.

Carson Ridge Traverse
This makes a fine winter or spring climb as well. Matthew and I hit this one last on a tour from Kirkwood to Carson Pass along the ridge. Trip Report
Very windy night at Winnemucca Lake. Woke early and hiked to the top of Elephants Back on our way out. It rounded out the weekend nicely - we hiked Round Top and The Sisters the day before.
