Elk Herd

Elk Herd

A large elk herd crosses Wingle Ridge just south of Shrine Mtn after an early season snow. The Rut has begun, notice there is only one bull in that entire group. The ski slopes beyond are Copper Mountain. August 17, 2008.

You're kidding !!

The rut has already begun in CO? It doesn't
begin until September here in AZ. With all this rainwater we've been getting, looking forward
to hearing many bugling elk sounds. Awesome!!

Rut

I heard some bugling as I was climbing the peak but couldn't see where the elk were at first, then all of a sudden they started parading up onto the ridge and over! It seems a little early for the rut to me too, maybe that little bull is trying to get an early start before he gets his butt kicked, LOL!
