The peaks here definitely have a more alpine feel to them than most of the others in CO (except maybe SJ range)... Just wish it wasn't such as long drive.

Favourite Range in Colorado
Have visited the Elks for upwards of 10 years. The peaks in this range are stunning and fantastic. I actually like scrambling on the loose rock. I think Malamute Peak is probably the most loose I've been. Although North Maroon is pretty awful. Deep, cold winters. Great range!!!

This was a good range to visit. Wish I could have done more peaks in the area.
have summited the elk 14ers(castle, maroon, pyramid, capitol and snowmass) along with the centennials(cathedral, thunder pryamid and hagerman) along with other enjoyable peaks. great experiences! i can't wait to venture into this great range in the winter months!

Bugle or Yodle!
I love the ELKS and the WEST ELKS! I put them up there just behind the Grenadiers, Crestones, and Rocky Mtn NP in terms of stoic ruggedness. The Bells though, they are the twin Matterhorns of Colorado. Everyone should at least stand in awe from Maroon Lake...
Am I supposed to have climbed all peaks to log in? I have repeated a few, skied some rare 12'ers near Marble...
