We made it up to the upper pitch with no issues. Beautiful climb but as noted this particular spot is prone to avalanches! The ice appeared rotten and conditions rapidly worsened, so we may the decision to save this one for another day and started making our way back down. Moments after leaving exiting the upper bowl area, we heard the bone chilling rumble of snow barreling down our way. Luckily it had run itself out by the time it reached us mostly throwing bits and pieces our way. Just glad we had gotten out of there when we did!
I read a trip report about this climb on the net - it said it was "an easy day". It wasn't an easy day for me. I was pooped.
We climbed this amzing line expecting a wide sheet of ice on the final pitch. As the pics show, it was quite thin and challenging. Definitely a worthy objective in a very cool setting.
