Pinnacles/Laguna Meadow Loop
Cool hike with my friend Pick...hiked the 12 mile loop including the spur climb to the summit. The last 25 feet are up a rock scramble...fun. Excellent views of Big bend from the top! Full report with pics on our website at Natural Born Hikers-Emory Peak

From Juniper Canyon
We camped near Juniper Canyon with a large group of family and hiked a ways up the canyon the next day. Most folks turned around, but I continued a couple more miles to the peak. Great views of a very cool part of our country!

Via trail
Loop hike with Nga around to the South Rim and back to the visitor center, tagging Toll Mtn and Emory Peak along the way. Nice views from the summit (despite the antennas, ugh).

Long Loop Highlight
Did a day hike loop: Laguna to South Rim to North Rim to Pinnacles, and added this peak since I was going back home to flat Illinois. Very icy and slick, especially going down. I volunteer to take down the antennas from the summit at a reasonable rate.

Me and 3 of my friends were hiking the South Rim/Pinnacles trail for two days and climbed Emory Peak on our way back to Chisos Mountains Base. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and desert!

to see for miles and miles
definitely scrambling at the end is awesome, as well as the relative lack of people along the trail, mostly runnning into backpackers. incredibly gorgeous hike though, with an even more gorgeous far-ranging view at the end

Cool Climb
Nice hike here. My dad and I hiked up at a pretty leisurly pace. Nice views of the window and Chisos. That scrambling at the top was fun. Pretty windy up top though. I guess it would be too easy without it.
of my peak bagging addiction. First time I hiked up on a Spring Break trip- shared the summit with at least 20 others. Second time up had the whole trail to myself and sat on the summit for 45 minutes without seeing another soul. Always do the Pinnacles Trail, which is steep coming from sea level. Laguna Meadows trail is a bit longer, but more gentle.

Gettin' High in the Chisos
The skies were clear as crystal. Very few visitors to the park today. I was alone on the summit, basking in sunshine. Temps up to 70 in the Chisos basin.
Summitted during backpacking trip in the Chisos. The Basin looked so small from the top! Fun final stretch to the summit.

When the world didn't end at the great odometer rollover, I decided to hike Emory, following the standard route from Chisos Basin. mazing hike, loved every step of the way. Fun scramble to the tippy-top. Went back with my wife in Dec 2005 so she could bag it, too. Truly an amazing place.
Route Climbed: Emory Peak Trail Date Climbed: Spring Break 2001
Trip was to set out from Tyler Tx with about 5 of my friends and myself. All of my friends bailed on me and I ended up making the 10hr drive and subsequent hike up Emory all by my lonesome. It proved to be a very moving trip and the solitude on the hike (I had company on the summit...unfortunantly) was very relaxing. Didn't get to see any wildlife though.
