Englestead Gulch - ZNP

Englestead Gulch - ZNP

The initial rappel shown here of 300 feet scare away many, but this is an exciting canyon located on the East Rim of Zion National Park. It ends in Orderville Canyon.

Re: hmmm

Some you need a rope and others you do not. Climbers usually have no trouble at all in the slots because they are use to the rope work and breeze by the little downclimbs. There are also many slots you can visit that don't need a rope or climbing skills.

initial rappel

Does that mean you had a 600 ft rope or did several pitches. Do you folks use static or climbing rope?

Re: initial rappel

Bo sets up the ropes when we go, but 600' of rope would be a pain to carry. Most usually bring just enough for the longest rappel. The rope usually used for canyoneering is made special for it.
