Excelsior Geyser Crater and Firehole River

Midway Geyser Basin - Yellowstone NP Stream from Excelsior Geyser Crater, flowing into the Firehole River Excelsior Geyser was once the largest geyser in the world with its last know major eruptions occurring in the 1880s and some minor eruptions in 1985 for two days. Excelsior is now a productive thermal spring, discharging 4,050 gallons a minute.
