False Summit

Heading up the ridge to what turned out to be the false summit of Monroe. At the top of these rocks, I encountered the highest winds I have to date. I've been in winds measured at 70 mph before on Hood and this was much worse. I'm guessing around 90 mph. I actually felt myself getting lifted up and quickly fell to the ground, hugged a rock and took my pack off which was starting to act more as a sail than a backpack. I crawled the last 40 feet to the top of this thinking it was the summit only to find out the trail continued on to the right and there was some darkness that looked like a higher rock to get to. :- /
