False Summit
False Summit
Don't be fooled by this false summit when ascending from Campbell Canyon. I think my heart sank when I got on top of this and realized it wasn't the top. The real peak actually isn't much farther, and I think most concur that the ridge walk between this false summit and the peak is the most enjoyable part of the hike. (Just a moment earlier and there would have been an F-16 in the photo doing a banking maneuver around the peak.)
