Fern Canyon, NV

Fern Canyon, NV

Here you can see the oak brush that grows in the riparian area of Fern Canyon, Nevada. Where there is water, there is life!!! The composition of the rock is Aztec Sandstone from ancient sand dunes that covered this part of the Mojave Desert. This is the upper part of the canyon, after you detour around the prominant waterfall in the BOWELS of the canyon. WARNING: When hiking along the North Fork of Pine Creek in Fern Canyon, you will be in CLOSE proximity to many rocks. I saw signs of a recent rockfall coming down off the south-facing wall of the canyon. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially if you're hiking alone. ~ March 10, 2008 ~
