Fieldfare

Fieldfare

The Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris) is a migratory bird from the family Turdidae (Thrush Family). It lives on the edges of forests and at the tree-covered shores of the rivers. This bird builds its neat nest among branches of deciduous trees. It arrives in Poland in March and April and leaves in September or October. However, some individuals do stay around in winter. Fieldfare is a social and loud bird. Males and females look alike. Both parents care for and feed their young. The young ( usually 5 or 6 of them) are ready to leave the nest just two weeks after they have hatched. The Low Beskid - Shore of the River Lubatowka - March 27, 2008
