Gottat Love the Handing GlacierYou just have to love that hanging glacier with the cornices comming off it.
Must be a real killer to climb?
Has it been climed directly?

Re: Gottat Love the Handing GlacierAs I said, the wall was first climbed by Welzenbach, slighty left to the summit. Reiss, Sollberger and Reist were the first who did the direttissima (sunny in the picture). Nobody ever climbed it below the hanging glacier, would not make any sense. R+R later climbed the Everest as second team after Hillary.

Re: Gottat Love the Handing GlacierI agree it would be rather foolish to try a direct assult. But they said the same thing about the N wall of the Eiger amd the N wall of the Matterhorn and now these are routine climbs.
It just might be matter of time.
