Final crest to Castor summit 4223m

Final crest to Castor summit 4223m

At last - the raison d'etre of Castor SW flank route: the final 50m of sensational summit ridge. We had to be very careful - what doesn't show in the photo is the howling icy wind, which is pulling the rope to the right... 11th September 2014.

Re: This is really fantastic!

Thanks a lot Eric - and all who voted! It really was a perfect snow crest. I'd have really liked to have taken more photos all the way along - but the very strong winds meant no spare attention for photography when it got to being on the really narrow bit. bw, Mark

Re: unreal

Thanks a lot - yes it was almost unbelievable. Makes me think about the neighbouring mountain Lyskamm - the crest between the two summits is supposed to be like this... for about a kilometre!
