Financial Wall, although not difficult to reach, is an obscure north facing objective, located by its lonesome out in the middle of the desert floor to the south of a more popular feature named Outward Bound Slab.  Both of these formations consist of relatively short routes.   Where they differ substantially however is that Outward Bound offers more beginner type climbing (and sometimes group guiding) and is always basked in the sun.  Financial Wall’s most notable routes on the other hand are in the 5.11-5.12 range.  This formation only consists of one wall, its north facing wall that offers right to left leaning cracks layered on top of each other, obviously some of them overhanging.

Park at the Boy Scout Trailhead and hike to almost where you turn left to head for Mongolia-Siberia, just over half a mile.  Turn right as you would for Outward Bound Slab and aim southeast across the vegetated desert floor for the “fin” like varnished north face (not much of a trail).  The formation looks like whales breaching together.  The base of the wall offers some cool solitude and is definitely well shaded yet the distance is no more than a mile from the trailhead.  If you made a bee line back to the parking area from Financial Wall (open desert), you will be skirting the lone fenced private property (2018) in the park on your left.  Scramble down west to get off the routes, into a an easy chimney leading right back to the base.  There are no fixed raps and the few lone pieces of fixed pro on this face are pitons (2018).

Capital Gains- 35’-5.8*/ Looks much taller from afar, but a short route.  Hike to the base of the wall and enter the corridor to the right (your scramble descent).  There are two routes side by side, the 5.10d (Higher Yield) with the pin (2018) on the left and the more pedestrian left leaning crack on the right (Capital).  Positive holds and good pro the whole way.  Worthy but short lead at the grade.  Follow the crack as it curves left into the wide finish atop Higher Yield.  Fun movement enters that crack.  Medium to large gear belay/top rope on top.  Walk off climbers right and back east down the corridor to the base.  Single to C4#3.  Dow
