Fire at Night - A Dying Breed

Fire at Night - A Dying Breed

Campfire at Lake Merriweather, Virginia One of my favorite pictures from a recent week spent at Goshen Scout Reservation, just brings out some of the beauty of the night and the place and why I have spent 9 summer weeks there!

Beautiful and inviting...

campfire!
Am I seeing a person in plaid shirt bending toward the fire?
There's nothing better than a campfire, specially if it's cold outside.

Re: Beautiful and inviting...

Thanks Marc! There's a person to the left of the fire but I'm not sure what he's wearing. The picture was taken from about 60 yards or so away up a hill.

Cheers, Kathy

Funny ..

Here in Arizona, there has been a forest-wide
ban on campfires, including smoking and using
chainsaws in the woods.

Then we received some rain, and NOW everything
is RIGHT with the world again !!! Hallelujah!

Re: Funny ..

That's great news Larry! I've been watching the fires in the west this year and they are scary.....we've had some heat waves but nothing as bad as last summer.

Reminds me of the good old days

I miss having a camp fire in the mountains. Now days most mountaineers including myself use mini stoves for cooking. I would like to one of these days go back to the older ways of using a camp fire. Thanks for the memories.

Re: Reminds me of the good old days

I feel the same way! I think that's one reason why I treasure my weeks at summer camp so much; a chance to have build a fire and keep it going a few days....

Thanks Josh!

Re: Great image!

Thanks! I love those evenings with campfires even in the warm nights at camp!
