First day of the season

On top of Maine on 5/24/08. This was the first day that the mountain was open by the park for the season and were the first people to climb it with the exception of a ranger and the director the day before. As you see I have my Keen sandals attached to my pack. I fully intended to wear them all the way to the top, however a few hundred vertical feet short of getting off the Abol trail, we ran into snow and ice and my feet began to freeze.
