First Descents

Serenity snagged some first descents down our glacial home. By the way, if anyone noticed that I used Alpine Climbing for all these pic's, don't send me hate mail; Alpinism has to do with everything a mountain can throw at you. It's the most appropriate title.

Trade Offs

Light is Right true, but it really bites not having the right piece of equipment that you need.

Anyone have any insight as to if those small ski-boards can double as snowshoes, maybe retro-fitted with skins? How about those snowboards that also come apart like ski's? Can they double as Alpine Touring Ski's for an approach on say, Denali?

Any really light snowshoeas out there?

Do other high altitude alpinists leave the snowshoes behind & just exhaust themselves a little like I do, wading through hip deep snow, on the chance that the weight saved will pay off on the upper slopes???
