The Flying Buttress is a popular variation of the Devil's Kitchen Headwall. It is considered "Variation 3" of the headwall. It has a distinct entry from the Devil's Kitchen and leads directly to the Wy'easy summit ridge. This is a fun and fast way to get to the meat of the Wy'east, and skips over the crowds of the standard South Side routes.
Timberline Lodge, up the Palmer, to the Devil's Kitchen.
Head up to the Devil's Kitchen, approach the 3rd main gully (counting from the main DKH gully). Find your way onto the Wy'east ridge, and follow your way up the standard Wy'east route to the summit. Descend however you'd like.
Not much gear needed. If you choose to protect this, a couple pickets. 1 axe would be fine.
