Pelican...If they were flying NORTH, they were whooping cranes. If they were flying SOUTH, they were pelicans. If they tried to land in your hands and take your P&J sandwich, they were grey jays. Great capture, Dean!!!

I may not be knowledgeable of what these flying critters are but since i didn't have a P&J sandwich, we'll never know what the true identity is. I will try and run this by my bird aware friend, rfbolton, he'll know.

Re: Pelican...Definitely Pelicans. See them all the time here in Tri-Cities, more and more every year. As a matter of fact I see them everywhere now, all the desert water holes have them. Up and down the Columbia, the Snake, all over southeast Oregon, etc...
