Otherworldly Place
Really like Antelope Island, this was my first visit to it with snow and first time to the top. Hauled snowshoes, but despite there being a foot plus of snow up top didn't really need them as the trail was already pretty well blazed. Departed the normal route at the radio tower for a little snow scrambling along the summit ridge, largely horizontal with a couple ~10' vertical sections.

Bike/Hike
I can see Frary Peak from my bedroom window. Looking at it, I got the idea to travel there under human power. So, on a lovely Saturday in August I rode my bike to the trailhead, ditched my bike for hiking boots and climbed to the summit. It's a stunning view of both the Wasatch mountains and also the Great Salt Lake. It took me 6 1/2 hours doorstep-to-doorstep, including 45 miles of biking.

Winter Hike
The one awesome day in the Winter this year we made the trek. It was a great hike to the top, no snow, steady wind, not a lot of people.

Antelope is an interesting place.
Weather in SLC sucked all memorial weekend but out on the island it was almost full sun. Nice easy trail which gets a little tougher the last 1/8 mile and the final 100 feet up is even a tad more sketchy. The amount of people we saw without any supplies whatsoever was dumbfounding. I was coming down the steep section from the summit and a guy coming up said, "looks like going down is tougher, am I almost there?" I looked at him and all he had was a 16 oz bottle of water in his had which had one sip left. I said " you better hope so if that's all you have." Fun day and a nice escape of the rain.

Wet Desert Peak
Overcast along the Wasatch front. The shadows of the clouds stopped at the island, which made for a wonderful sky above this unique natural feature.

Black Frary Friday
Summited with 2 of my brothers right at sunset. We had the warmest Thanksgiving in 70+ years (so I was told). Had to take advantage of great weather and get a peak in. The parking lot was nearly full. Very popular hike if the weather is nice. Will have to come back and take the scramble route next time.

Wildflowers
Nice hike with great views of the salt flats and SLC area.
Excellent views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains. Pretty good rest day hike. Next time I'll try the scramble route. No wildlife on the trail today.

Unfortunate day for me
Unsuccessful day for me. Was trying to break in some newer approach shoes and ended up with a large blister on the back of my right heel. Luckily it didn't stop me from summit into Grand Teton the next weekend. Will definitely have to make it back to Frary this summer.

Conquered
Took my 7 year old son up to the peak for father and son bonding time. He did very well and this route was a good "get back into hiking shape" trip for me. I'll be doing trip report soon. Will be going back soon too. The last 0.08th of a mile was tuff!! Great views, left a mini log book on top with a sharpie. If you get up there sign it and snap a pic for me

Hiked with the family
Hiked this with the wife, parents, brother, etc. Mom had a very hard time getting off the mountains, as she had knee issues. I don't remember much else, but Kadee said I had to sign the log, and one must do what Kadee says. ;)

I was terrified the last 100 or so feet of vertical. Kadee assures me it wasn't that bad. At least it was a beautiful day!

Climing out of the inversion
After trying unsuccessfully to summit Frary with my daughter on my shoulders back in November, I was excited to get back to it. Coming off of Mount Olympus, an ass-kicker of a hike (for me, at least), I expected Frary to be a breeze -- and it wasn't! That last 0.08 miles, from the weather station to the summit along the down-then-back-up trail, is pretty hairy in the snow. Without spikes and poles, I might well have turned back at that point. As it was, I took it slow and steady on the way up, and did portions of it on my butt on the way down.
With a heavy inversion in the valley, it was nice to get up above the guck, particularly on such a clear, crisp day. I met three other folks, all very nice, at the weather station and we did the last bit together. This was only the second time since I started peakbagging that I wasn't alone on the summit (the first was Dooly Knob with my daughter), and it was a different feeling.
The 360 degree view from the top is stellar even with an inversion; I can only imagine how cool it would be without it. Well worth the hike!
One of my favorite things about mountains is how they reveal themselves to you as you approach them: their folds seem to unfurl, their flanks take on a different profile depending on where you see them from, and the light catches them in different ways. Frary Peak, though fairly low in elevation, is fantastic for that.
The Frary Peak trailhead is closed in the winter, adding 0.6 miles RT to the route (as you have to walk from the parking lot by the road up the trailhead).
It was nice meeting you on the summit. Happy trails!

Frary Peak
2/18/2016 Under less than ideal conditions. Decent on the hike up, but shortly after leaving the top not so much. Hail, zero vis, and easily 80 mph winds. But that just makes it exciting, right?
10/30/2013 Great hike up to Frary Peak, even under some cold, stormy weather. We first made the slight detour up to Dooly Knob, then on to Stringham Peak, and staying true to the ridge onto Frary Peak. Fun scrambling staying on the ridge above the trail to the summit.

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the island for free due to the federal shutdown. Hiked to the top of Frary Peak and then over to Red Rocks and Bamberger Hill. On the way back, went to Stringham Peak and Dooly Knob.

Like Ireland
Absolutely Spectacular. This was my second time to this summit and I can't speak highly of it enough during this time of year. March is gorgeous on the island. It feels so green and with all the water around it is very reminiscing of Ireland. Jagged cliffs, green grasses, patches of snow. The final bit to the summit was a bit tough cause the snow and slick spots, but did it and worth it all.
