Bike to Fraser  Sucess!

Great ride up from Taos Ski Valley base! Just one small snow patch on the north face.

Briefly lost the trail  Sucess!

While climbing Wheeler with my sister and headed up to the top of Frazer (which I thought was just a hill) to do some reconnaissance. We had a beautiful day until the end, when it hailed on us right before we made it back to the car.

In Search of Cell Phone Service  Sucess!

On the trail to Wheeler Peak, a friend thought he had lost his camera, when in reality he had earlier left it with another person who turned back. In trying to convince him that his camera was safe, I hiked up to the summit of Frazer to try to find cell phone service to call the person that had his camera. But, I didn't find service. Oh well. I probably wouldn't have tagged this peak that day, otherwise.

yep  Sucess!

A cool little mountain to summit while approaching or leaving wheeler. I particularly like this one for the fantastic view of Taos Ski Valley and all the trails. I actually descended the mountain from this peak in the small SUPER STEEP valley just underneath. Don't do it. There is much misery to be had, and with the slow progress and frequent falling it doesn't save you any time.

on the way to Wheeler  Sucess!

Stopped for a few minutes at the top here for a break. A couple of marmots were very interested in me.

6 peak day via Bull of the Woods  Sucess!

I love this time of year - perfect weather, sunny blue skies, autumn colors! Enjoyed the hot springs at Ojo Caliente, green chili beer and a suite with a kiva fireplace afterward. :-)

Bonus en route to Wheeler  Sucess!

This is a worthy destination in its own right and a scenic waypoint en route to Wheeler. Fraser overlooks the La Cal Basin, and you get fine views of the deep valleys on either side of the ridge.

Bagged it on the way to Wheeler  Sucess!

Just a little side step and another one to bag made it hard to pass.

An Accurate Description

We hiked this as part of an ascent of Wheeler. Thanks to Sarah and Ron (who we met on the trail), we all summited Wheeler. Pretty long for a dayhike from the Coyote parking lot. Seeing the bighorn sheep was an added bonus. And we were blessed with a thunderstorm on the descent.

Tagged this sucker up on the way to Wheeler  Sucess!

Just a little warm up and taste before you get to Wheeler. Great view and a smooth lumpy looking mountain!

En Route to Wheeler  Sucess!

Hiked to the top of this one on the way up to Wheeler Peak. There were tons of big horn sheep on Fraser Mountain, and we were able to get within 20 feet of them.
