Did this as a '2fer' with San Juan Hill after getting rained off my original objective. Much better than expected, with great views in all directions from about four different spots. The upper ridge (4600-summit) was absolutely plastered with all different colors of survey tape, so I spent about 30 minutes taking it all down. A few brushy spots, but I was able to follow game trails for much of the scramble after leaving the road.
It was a nice day out with a great glissade on the way down!
Great views plus a killer glissade. Trip report coming soon.
While I was visiting with family during the day, I realized I had time to do an afternoon hike in Wild Sky Wilderness. The weather was gradually improving so I chose Frog Mountain, and I am so glad I did. I had to break trail and keep scouting out the best approach for my intended route all the way to the summit, as well as stop to take many photos, which slowed down my ascent. There was no recent evidence of climbers on the mountain, although I occasionally noticed some very faint snowshoe tracks along the western summit ridge. When I reached the false summit/ summit ridge, I immediately found a fresh single set of mountain goat tracks which led east along the ridgeline to the true summit and beyond. I reached the summit within 3h00m, and descended (slowly down the steep upper slopes, so not to trigger any avalanches) within 1h30m.
