Beautiful Lakes, short jaunt!
Couldn't resist a quick trip up to the summit before enjoying the rest of the hike to the lakes. A little loose on the way down to the saddle!

Gaylor - Check
It was the day for unglamorous peaks. Early morning hike from Tioga Road. Nice views and a quick fix for a summit. I saw two beautiful hawks, which flew very close to me, by mistake.

On the way out
Easy from Gaylor Lakes TH. I retraced, but you can continue up and over the peak. There also appear to be a couple chutes just past the summit that would take you right down to the lake.

Spontaneous loop
I wasn't planning to go up Gaylor Peak, but when I got to the saddle on my way to Gaylor Lakes, I figured I may as well. Then I went down the north side to make a semi-loop out of it.
If I had to do it over again, I'd go UP the north side and down the south; the north side is steeper and would be a fun scramble, with any number of possible routes.

Easy hike, great views
After getting a late start and turning around at the snow band just below Conness the day before, ran up Gaylor to at least get a summit. Then over to Tioga Spur
Spent the day bagging various peaks in Yosemite, this was #2 on the day, and the easiest. From Tioga Pass, a trail leads 2/3 of the way, the rest is easy talus.

Afternoon Delight
After climbing Cathedral Peak in the morning, I set off to climb Gaylor Peak, an easy side trip which also had the advantage of being on the Vagmarken Crest list, which I'm attempting to complete.

good for the fresh air
Easy jaunt with about 1,000 ft. of gain. Done after a weekend in Yosemite on my way home. Air felt like winter. Very nice views on the summit of surrounding Tuolumne and lakes and an easy hike to give you something short and sweet to do just to get out. Good hike if you are recovering from any serious injuries. Soaked in mammoth hot springs on the way back-one of the best soaks ever!

Standard Route
Dashed up following a climb up Mammoth Peak's north slope. Loved looking back at Mammoth from Gaylor. Dark skies and snow flurries added to the excitement of 50+ mph winds.

A good legs stretcher after the drive from the Bay Area. :)
Loved it and enjoyed it much as always.
Stayed on the summit and simply chilled for two full hours. Had it to myself for an hour and half until someone else showed up...
