Geode Dome

Geode Dome

Geode Dome seen from the southwest route on Granite Peak. It is the most prominent granite dome on this side of the mountain There are a few routes located here. The longest reach the top in about six pitches. Nemesis, 5.10, follows the large arch on the left side of the dome. The Gods Must Be Angry, 5.10d, is located near the right side of the dome

How on God's Green Earth do climbers make it
up that wall? It looks more like smooth marble.

Nope, it’s The Gods Must Be Angry. The name follows the theme of Nemesis. She was the goddess of retributive justice or vengeance in Greek mythology. As for the name Geode, I guess it’s because this dome looks like a giant geode rock. This is in the Mineral Mountains and minerals are found in geodes.

No problem Larry. You are referring to the movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy. I may have seen it a long time ago before I could remember much. I’ll have to watch it again sometime.
