Walk-up road to Geyser Peak
Walk-up road to Geyser looking north
From the high points of the North SF Bay Area in Marin County 3 peaks stand out on the far horizon to the north. From right to left is hulking Mt. St. Helena and Cobb Mtn. for their height and Geyser Peak for its position. Geyser Peak sits on the western scarp of the Mayacamas Mountains above Alexander Valley about 13 miles northwest of Mt. St Helena and 5 miles northwest of Geyserville. A decent paved road goes up to a pass a few miles northeast of the peak. From here an easy walk-up road with open views leads to the summit with a 360 panorama if you walk the perimeter and ignore the commercial facilities. Views include Mt. Tamalpais on the horizon 60 miles south, Mendocino Nat. Forest peaks to the north, Konocti, Hannah, Cobb northwest and St. Helena to the southeast.
