Gild Reservoir Route

Gild Reservoir Route

This is the winter alternative route for when the road is snowed in. About a mile north of the Blue Mountain Pass on Highway 95 is a gated 4x4 road. Dont worry about the fences, there are two barbed wire gates you will have to go through just make sure they get closed behind you. Travel 1.5 miles up the 4x4 path to Gild Reservoir which is most likely going to be dry, park then head right up the side of the mountain. This is probably the most direct route for when the road is snowed in. Expect 1800 feet of elevation gain and 2-3 hours of hiking. Green is 4x4 road, Red is on foot travel.
