A great site it is. I've picked up most of my html from the editing mountain pages thread in the general forum, as well as from Alan Ellis and attm.

Yo

Get any good looks at an alternate route to cusick from this mtn? On topo maps it looks possible but definitely rugged. Cool place indeed.

Re: Yo

Hi there,

I'm pretty sure the way from Glacier to Hawkins Pass is do-able cross country and I just uploaded a photo I took a couple of years ago from the summit of Glacier that shows the terrain so you can take a look for yourself.(on the Cusick Mt. page.) The photo is uploaded at full resolution so you can blow it up and get a good look. When you blow up the pic you can easily see the trail switchbacks up to Hawkins Pass and all the terrain in between.

I think a strong hiker/trail runner could probably do the deed in a day from the Two Pan trailhead but it would be a very long day!

It's just about the prettiest country there is so good luck whatever you do!

Don

Re: Yo

I was recently in the wallowas and have some route beta. We suspected that from hawkins pass we could follow the ridge easily to the summit of cusick. Blocking our path was a massive tower on the ridge. No routes existed to traverse around it and to climb it would be 5th class on questionable rock. To climb cusick from that side will take some future route finding.
