Gorgeous day. Up from Llyn Idwal and down to Plas y Brenin.

Numerous ascents
Numerous ascents - mainly following a route on Idwall Slabs. Last time must have been around mid June 2001, when I took my then fiance now wife up Tennis Shoe before scrampling on up to the top - and then down via Devils Kitchen.

A lovely gentle peak but challenging weather conditions during my ascent.

Can be done on it`s own from Ogwen or Pen y Pass but depending on fitness levels of individuals it`s best done as a part of the traverse taking in Glyder Fach or vice versa, for extra entertainment the best if you are up for it is, Tryfan (North Ridge), Brisley Ridge to Glyder Fach, traverse South to Glyder Fawr; `fantastic views looking East down Nant Ffrancon`, down to Llyn y Cwn, Y Garn, Foel Goch, Mynydd Perfedd, Carnedd y Filiast and finish off with the lofty and under rated Elidir Fawr.
...along with Tryfan, Bristly ridge, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr, and Y Garn....

Tryfan & Glyders
As part of the Tryfan and Glyders traverse. Weather was bad on Glyder Fawr, no views until we started to descend and then it cleared and the sun came out.

Cneifion Arete
Have been up Glyder Fawr many times, often as part of a long ridge walk. Latest occasion was as a mountaineering route with my Dad. Climbed the Sub Cneifion rib, onto the Cneifion Arete and finally up the Gribbin ridge. Excellent.

A combined trek:
Done this summit many times mainly with Tryfan, Glyder Fach then on to Y Garn.
A great combined ridge walk.
In the three years living in North Wales and the subsequent returns to olde haunts, I have lost count the number of times I have summited this one, yet there is always another combination of the routes up to inspire. My favourite possibly is the Cneifion ArĂȘte. Be prepared for every type of weather imaginable and I have even been taken clean off my feet in the wind.
between 1983 and present day including as part of the welsh 3000s walk, via sub-Cneifon Arete and Gribin Ridge, via Devils Kitchen etc etc... Probably the most enetrtaining rout is from Llanberis side via Bryants Gulley and Esgair Felen. The gully is a great scramble, fun when a bit wet, and the rock scenery in the upper part is amazing.
First time From Lyn Idwal up the 'Idwal Staircase' recently. Usually included in a traverse with Tryfan/Glyder Fach via Bristly Ridge, the best route in the Glyders!
