Working in Liverpool, the Glyderau provided my first real mountain experiences. My workmate Dave took me up various routes on the Idwal slabs and then scrambling on Tryfan's north ridge and up onto the Glyders. Returning there is always satisfying.

One of the best places in the UK!
Plenty for everyone here. It's got to be the attraction of the higher grade scrambles for me. In all weather and all year round. So accessible and varied.

The Glyders
started from Ogwen rescue, went up Y Garn then onto Glyder fawr then onto Glyder Fach then a good scramble down Bristly ridge to the bottom of Tryfan before heading back down to Ogwen rescue post
Tryfan, Fach, Fawr on a sunny autumn day. Tent got flattened by the wind that night though....

I was brought up on these!
Tryfan was my first mountain in 1969 and then over the years since I have made repeated visits both to Tryfan and the Glyders behind - a few times via the Bristly Ridge but also via all other approaches. The most enjoyable approach was from the top of the Idwal Slabs, after climbing one of the rock routes - climbing on up often late summers evening by then... marvelous!
Spectacular Walking, Rock Climbing, Scrambling, Ice Climbing and Mixed Climbing on the Glyderau Range, it has everything to offer the beginner or the more experienced Mountaineer/Climber.
