Gorge of No Return

Gorge of No Return

Sparse desert plants frame the Verde River Gorge. The river has sliced through thick layers of basalt deposited by ancient volcanoes. After weaving through cat-claw, there's ONE possible way to reach the river from here. However, I was content to stand quietly and listen to the river's roar, as it follows the course to AZ's Sonoran Desert. January 25, 2009

Geez, Bob - Aren't we up too late?

Thanks - I didn't want to be too specific as
far as the botany and geology goes.

It's a neat area, and what's neat about it was the complete absence of human beings!
