Cold and colder  Sucess!

I wanted a nice long hike so I also parked near the beginning of the wash, 8.9 miles one way. Instead of sticking to the canyon at the turn off of the main wash I went straight up the spine and this added considerable time dealing with the cliffy parts. Had three layers on most of the day but on the way down it just got colder and colder. I had 5 layers on when I got back to the truck, plus hand warmers, toe warmers, and a full head covering and it still wasn't quite enough. That said I'd take a cold hike over one in the searing heat

Goshute Peak  Sucess!

With the treat of rain, I opted to park at where the road first entered the wash. This made this a much bigger effort. From where I parked to where Dean parked was about 6.5 miles of hiking. The hike up the road and wash was enjoyable and it went by quick. The views from the top were fairly obscured in the cloud cover but otherwise a very enjoyable hike. All said and done the hike was 18.1 miles, 4500+' gain, and just under 6 hours roundtrip.

Goshute   Sucess!

We had to fight off mosquitos at our camp spot. We made it to where Dean, Ken and Dennis parked in our Jeep CJ5. Weather was very nice for the hike.

Sweet views  Sucess!

Ken Jones, Dennis Poulin and I were happy to get this one on the third day of our 5 day effort together. Prior to this one we had picked off Beaver Peak near Carlin and Wilson Peak well north of Elko. Ken and I had our eyes on this one for some time and really had very little information about it. Thanks to a bit of information from Mark Nichols, we had found out that he and Andy Martin had been able to make their way up Felt Canyon and access the summit from there. We did likewise and perhaps found even a better route to the top as we encountered none of the difficulties that they had faced. When we obtained the summit, we were treated to some of the best views in the eastern part of Nevada. Well worth the effort despite having some dealings with the Felt canyon tick population.
