Via Ferrata, sort of  Sucess!

Some call it a via ferrata, I would call it a secured route, and the secured section is short. A bit of scrambling is required, and holding the steel cable makes it easier (and safer). Some people will want a via ferrata set, but most people won't need it.

Earlier in the day, I climbed Piccolo Cir, and saw lots of people on Gran Cir. It was well in the afternoon by the time I was on Gran Cir myself, and by then it wasn't busy anymore. I was alone on the top, and met just a couple of other groups en route.

Fantastic summit views!

Via ferrata  Sucess!

Ascent from Passo Gardena. Via ferrata on the ascent i very easy and short. Before Gran Cir I walked ferrata Cir V - it's a good idea to make these 2 summits during the one trip.

Normal route from Passo Gardena  Sucess!

I'm not really used to this kind of climb, but nevertheless found Gran Cir a beautiful little peak and enjoyed the route accompanied by Pako, Maribel and Rafa.

Interesting peak  Sucess!

In our week in Dolomites we climbed high mountains as Marmolada or Civetta and this peak was perfect to a day to make a short climb from Paso Gardena to rest a little. The panorama of group Sella was marvelous.

Normal Route ''Ferrata''  Sucess!

On our resting-day halfway during our climbing week we left the Dolomites for Austria. At the Gardena Pass the police told us the road was closed for 2 hours. So we immediately took off for Gran Cir. Great little tour although you can barely call the normal route a Via Ferrata. Really enjoyed the it though and views were great towards Val Gardena, Sass Rigais, Sassolungo and Sella

Normal Route (via ferrata)  Sucess!

A honeymoon ascent with my wife in July 2001. I didn't get to do the Piscadiu like I wanted but it was still fun. Pretty easy but wonderful views and summit.

Normal route  Sucess!

We also climbed it in 1995. There were some changes in the route since then: A new stretch of steel cable has been added in the upper part, and the marked route has been changed a bit above that. It remains a very worthwhile, not too long climb with excellent views.

A short, but nice ferrata to get in the right mood... We did it with two friends of us. My girlfriend Irene and I did the harder ferrata on the Cir V directly afterwards and made it to a beautiful round trip collecting two summits.

This was very tiring day...I did via ferrata Albino Michielli Strobel on Punta Fiames (near Cortina) early in the morning, and Grande Cir was my second summit that day...I was exhausted at the end. Nevertheless, the climb was nice (despite of a short rain shower), I was totally alone with nobody around.
