Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon

View at Grand Canyon from the junction of the Mount Lowe fireroad with the trail that leads down to Tom Sloan Saddle. Grand Canyon which is south of Mount Lowe is essentially an eastward extension of Millard Canyon. The once famous Alpine Tavern (1896-1936; now Mount Lowe trail camp) that was reached by the Mt. Lowe Railway was located near the top of Grand Canyon. Part of the old Mt. Lowe railway bed can be seen on the south slopes of the canyon. April 27, 2008
