Grand Veymont at sunset

Grand Veymont at sunset

Photo taken when I was crossing the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors from Corrençon to Die.

I just slept on the Plateau du Veymont under the summit we see on the photo.

A few words about Vercors :

The Vercors massif is a mountainous massif of the Pre-Alps, straddling the French departments of Isère and Drôme, culminating at an altitude of 2 341 meters at Grand Veymont. Its geological nature, mainly limestone, is characterized by a relief made up of cliffs, ridges, valleys and gorges, more complex than the term "plateau" might suggest. As a result, it is divided into several regions, geographically and historically distinct: the Four Mountains, the Coulmes, the Vercors drômois, the High Plateaux and, in the foothills, the Royans, the Gervanne, the Diois and the Trièves. The nickname of "Fortress" is also associated with it.
