First Climb Via North Canyon, 2nd time biked up City Creek to end of Road Climbed on the east side of the south cliff the up south ridge to summit. Both WMC hikes.
Came from Affleck park via lookout, but returned on what I believe is part of the Wasatch 100 route that prevents a need to reascend Lookout. This was a great ropute with only minor bushwalking coming down from Lookout. If Grandview is the only goal the a trail albeit faint in places exists the whole way. The turn off is about 20 yards on the right after a giant whole on the ridge that looks like a collapsed mining claim, just before the ascent of Lookout 1st and largest "false" summit.

From Memory Grove
We followed the old Wahsatch (sic) Steeplechase Marathon course from Memory Grove to Black Mountain, past Smuggler's Notch, over Lookout Peak, East to The Brink, down to City Creek Pass, up towards the Session Mountains, West to Grandview. Then we went back to City Creek Pass and descended City Creek Canyon back to Memory Grove. Big day.
Route Climbed: North Canyon to Rudy's Flat then along ridge Date Climbed: 2/July/2005
A long hike along the ridge. Many wildflowers and a few patches of snow along the trail. The trickiest part was getting from Rudy's Flat to the Ridge, straight through thick bushes, but then it was mostly open hiking.
Route Climbed: Killyon Canyon & GWT Date Climbed: June 5, 2005
I definitely took one of the longer routes to get to the top. The cornices near the GWT are still huge, and I had what might be my first sighting of a crevasse (or maybe there is another name for a small crack in the snow) in the Wasatch. Totally cool. The time on top was windy, but pleasant. I bushwacked down Cottonwood Gulch and jogged down City Creek Canyon.
Route Climbed: ridge via Rudy's Flat and Burro Peak Date Climbed: 6/6/2004
Parked at Lower Rotary Park in City Creek Canyon, walked to Rudy's Flat and then followed the trail going up to the ridge. Rudy's flat is a maze of trails but it's not too hard to find the right one. Walked up some snow to Burro Peak (Big Black Mtn?), then had a great time following the rough (and long!) ridge to Grandview. Still plenty of snow left in sheltered locations. At the base of the final rise to the summit we decided to bail -- progress had been slow all day due to one member of the group lagging. Bushwacked down Cottonwood Gulch past some impressive mining equipment to the bottom of CC canyon and then walked down the trail and road to Lower Rotary.
Overall an excellent, if unsatisfying, hike. Rugged ridge walking, great views, and didn't see anyone outside the group all day.
Route Climbed: City Creek Canyon, Rotary park Date Climbed: March 4, 2005
I came within 1/2 mile of the summit, but turned back because of time constraints. Plus, I was tired as hell and my camera broke. No sense in continuing =).. Very good snow, some great powder still. A couple miles of hellish bushwacking after Rotary park. =(. Lots of cougar tracks...
Route Climbed: Great Western Trail, North Date Climbed: 8/2000
Parked car along dirt road and walked two miles to start of GWT. Dropped a few hundred feet, re-climbed to Sessions Mountain ridge. Followed obvious track southeast around Grandview and ascended Grandview's east ridge. Not difficult climbing, but long, about 16 miles round-trip. Couldn't verify the "grandness" of the view due to a nearby forest fire polluting the skies.
