Grassy Cove Top

Grassy Cove Top from Investor Gap. This picture was taken shortly after I proposed to my girlfriend and just before we made the trek to the top of Grassy Cove Top. The easiest way to the summit is to circle around the summit on the Art Loeb Trail and then follow the herd path to the top on the north side of the mountain. We tried to descend the south slope of the mountain via herd paths, but the brush was too thick and the fog too dense to see where we were going. So, we headed back to the Art Loeb Trail and then back to the Investor Gap Trail, which we followed to the parking lot at the base of Black Balsam Knob, where we had started. (March 15, 2009)
