Green Snaketail

Green Snaketail

The Green Snaketail (Ophiogomphus cecilia – in Polish: Trzepla zielona) is a species of dragonfly from the Gomphidae Family. Its wingspan is up to 7.5 cm and body length up to 5 cm. Its eyes, head and thorax are green (which becomes deeper and brighter with age), while its abdomen is black and yellow. Its favorite habitats are slow flowing rivers and streams. The males wait for the females to come down to the water and can often be seen on the river banks or sun-exposed rocks. In the Low Beskid these dragonflies can be seen in July and August. Along the trail "Szlak Przyrodniczo - Historyczny". Rezerwat Przadki - Zamek Kamieniec - Poland – Summer 2010.

Geez!

That's huge! Would be cool to see a pic of one with more foreground in it for scale.

Re: Geez!

It was difficult to photograph because it wouldn't sit still. Greetings Henryk
