Grindrite - 5.11b

This was another of my favourite climbs in Owens River Gorge - the climbing in this area (Gotham City and the Dihedrals in the Upper Gorge) was different than most of the Gorge. The rock was more monolithic creating climbs with varied moves utilizing a number of different techniques. (climber: unknown, photo: A. Jones)

Yes, this area and the adjacent "Dihedrals" were very different from most of the other areas we climbed. The climbs more followed corners or small cracks. More sidepulls and laybacking, then the other areas, which had more of your classic face climbing.
