Grinnell Lake

Grinnell Lake

Taken from a deep notch in the western summit ridge of Mount Grinnell. Grinnell's summit sits at 8,851 ft, with Grinnell Lake lying nearly 4,000 feet below to the south. The beautiful lake owes its deep aquamraine tint to the large amounts of glacial flour that pour into it from Grinnell Glacier Basin. Massive Allen Mountain rises above the opposite shore of the lake. August 22, 2009
