A bit windy today. Base of the cornice just starting to form along Grizzly's ridge, but route still mostly free of snow.
En route from Carbondale to do an airport pick-up in Denver, a nice quick break from driving.
This is a nice trip over several 13ers, starting from Loveland Pass, I went over Cupid to Grizzly and than back to Sniktau. My plann to go for Torreys and Grays didn't work due to weather.
As a Colorado Native, I am chagrined to just now be discovering this gem. In all the years that I traversed back and forth over Loveland Pass prior to the opening of I-70, I had stopped at the summit of the pass a few times and was mildly interested in hiking, but didn't appreciate what a resource this trailhead really is!
Great hike for the first day at elevation
Like everybody else, start @ Loveland etc, etc...next time I'll do it from Lenawee via Black mtn starting in Chihuahua gulch, maybe...
Nice climb, got my lungs pumping for sure.
Not much snow up here right now. Only got to the saddle as it was just way too windy.
Second ascent, with Cupid and Sniktau. Nice fall day, chilly but sunny and calm and not too much snow on the trail.
Easy, cold morning tagging Sniktau, "Cupid", Grizzly, UN12,752 and UN12,542.
Only saw one person all day. Very nice!
Started up from Loveland Pass TH at 7:30AM. Reached Grizzly via Cupid at 9:17 with crystal skies but 30mph winds all day.
Wanted to do Sniktau but was to weather-beaten, back to the TH at 11:16 with light breeze there. Made the best of it and had a good climb.......Sweet!
CMC BMS routefinding trip. This was my second time on Grizzly. We started around 5AM, went over Cupid and reached Grizzly around 9:15AM. There was some concern about weather (possible PM t'storms) and avalanche danger, but despite some monster cornices on the Divide, we managed to avoid those hazards. The weather cooperated, but it was very windy. We got back to Loveland Pass around 1PM.
Nice ridge-walk from Loveland Pass. Rewarding views in every direction.
A nice day in winter without much wind proved for a nice easy climb.
Climbed en route to Grays and Torreys from Loveland Pass. Great summit! I wasn't too excited about the climb back up on the return trip. Marauding thunderstorms didn't help either...
Great Ridge from Sniktau to Grizzly, fun scramble to end at summit and fantastic views. Makes for a nice day.

Climbed with Mike - patriarch of the Griswolds.
Ran up to do this after getting shut down by bottomless slush down lower. Took longer than I thought. So many ups and downs. Quite windy. Started out in marginal conditions, but the skies cleared ten minutes before the summit. Nice!
Very enjoyable, safe winter climb. The wind was pretty unrelenting. Just me mindfull of the cornices to the west. Many false summits on this one with about 750 ft. (seems like more) elevation gain on the descent.
