Großer Möseler (3480m)

Großer Möseler (3480m)

If you look real good, you may just be able to see a very vague summit cross. From this viewpoint, high on the southeastern flanks, the normal route first heads for the east ridge, to the saddle on the right side of the summit. From there, ascend the ridge, until, higher up, it gets a bit tricky. When it does, it's easy to stay a bit below the crest of the ridge (on this side; the other side is more dangerous). In fact, high up I ended up traversing the SE face to the crest of the south ridge, which I followed to the summit for the final meters. Mind you, because this is a frontal view, the face looks a whole lot steeper than it is. In fact, it wouldn't be too difficult to go straight up the face - if only the rock quality would be better. If there are other parties on the mountain, be careful not to send down a bunch of rocks on their heads! Depending on the conditions, crampons and ice axe may be useful. When I climbed the mountain, I had them with me. I think I may have used my axe, briefly, but no crampons. But I'm not completely sure about that anymore. 10 August 2014.
