5 high points in 6 days
Beautiful sunrise on Guadalupe. Started walking from Pine Springs Campground at 5:15 am and made it to the summit at 7:55. Nice cool temperature and a refreshing breeze made it perfect climb. Lots of wildlife too. My 16th state high point (5th in the last 6 days), and Chris's 6th. Started in Idaho Falls Friday and drove to Nebraska. Stopped in Kansas at Mt. Sunflower on Saturday and did Black Mesa in Oklahoma later that day. Spent a rest day in Taos New Mexico and climbed Mt. Wheeler on Monday. Tuesday spent at Carlsbad caverns and drove to Texas early Wednesday (today). Back to Taos this evening. What a fun road trip.
Could not have asked for better day! Cool, clear... and hardly any wind up top!! (Sure there were a few knock you over gust at some points of the trail on the way up.. but the top was sweet!)

Standard trail, good workout.
Luckily, the weather is a little cooler with some elevation in this part of Texas during the summer. We started early, and had temps in the 70's up to the summit. However, it heated up on the way down, and we did get some sunburn. I would do this peak and trail in the spring or fall next time.

Winter Hike
I did this with some friends during Christmas break. The first part is really steep, but the views are nice and the trail is safe to walk the whole way. There's a campsite about a mile or two from the summit. The trail was frozen the last mile. Had to crawl on some switchbacks to avoid slipping off the mountain. Very windy.

A Good Warmup For Wheeler And Elbert
Too bad we didn't see any views - it was foggy and raining the whole way up and most of the way down. Maybe next time.
This was my first hike up a mountain. I was out of shape, and remember being sore for days afterward. Weather was perfect, great views.

My 40th State Highpoint!
There is an old saying that "everything is big in Texas", so I guess it is appropriate this was the site of my 40th State Highpoint reached. Gorgeous scenery and great weather (minus the wind!) at the summit. I was the first one on the summit that day, but passed MANY people on the way down. Perhaps the trail should be renamed the "Guadalupe Peak Superhighway".

Pleasant day
Clear skies but boy did it get warm fast. Wish there were more detailed maps available of the trail that showed all the switchbacks. Still one of the most scenic trails I been on.
