It's the first time.....

I see your pics. I don't know what to say. The photo is phantastic. I'm just impressed. I will keep an eye on your name and pics in the future, look at your pictures and feel the tiny hair in my neck slowly rise.

Re: It's the first time.....

Thanks Jorgen! It's rare when someone takes a photo of me that actually turns out. I guess this one did.

Speaking of impressed, I was very impressed by your beautiful country. A long time ago I used to compete in women's single-handed Olympic sailboat racing. (Europa class) In 1990 (or 1991?) I spent some time at "Kalovig Baudelaug" in Studstrup north of Arhus. Do you know this area? It was the Europa Danish National Championships. There were hundreds of Danes, a few Chinese, and two Americans competing. The Danish people were wonderfully friendly and helpful.

Thank you again for your kind comments and please stay in touch.

Re: It's the first time.....

Hi Carolyn.

Thank you for the nice words about Denmark. I know the place, a very beautiful spot of DK. Actually the eastcoast of Kaloe Vig is a peninsula called "Mols Bjerge" which meens "The Mountains of Mols". The highest peak is breathtaking 137 meters....one of the tallest in DK. Well actually just a hill formed during the last iceage. Come again sometime and visit the coastline, and watch the everlasting sunsets in the long light summernights.

Jørgen

PS....did you get any medals?

Re: It's the first time.....

Wow, the Mountain of Mols... I didn't know that. Well, Denmark may not have many high mountains but what it lacks in mountains it makes up for in beautiful wildflowers. I remember the springtime hills being a brilliant sea of yellow. I hope to visit Denmark again someday.

No medals, unfortunately. It was a great opportunity to travel with the US Team and see the world but in the end, I don't think I have enough of the "competitive spirit."

Please take care,

Carolyn

Nice...

...ice climbing pics.

It is interesting, I use to visit Arhus too, in 90's, we went windsurfing on the northwest coast, town of Nøre Vorepur, and I sailed in Europa class too in 80's, but just recreational..

I like Danemark a lot.

Happy Ice climb.

Re: Nice...

I like your kind words about DK. Thank you. Nørre Vorupør is a very windy place, isn't it? It must be. Welcome back again sometime.

Re: windy place...

Yes, it was very windy but beautiful.

BTW, we "climbed" highest point of Denmark, Himmelbjerget.

Very nice area.

Thanks.

Re: Nice...

Thank you Tomi! That's funny that you sailed the Europa as well. The rig has such a low aspect and the boats are so light that in a good breeze you get a great ride! I hope to return to Denmark again someday.

Please take care,

Carolyn

Re: windy place...

And "Himmelbjerget" means "Sky Mountain".....less than 200 m.
