A solo attempt. Conditions on the mountain were terrible but I was bored of hanging around alone at Base Camp, so I pressed on regardless. I was so close to the summit when I triggered an avalanche. As I tumbled down the mountain I thought I'd had it. Still, I kept trying to brake with one of my axes and somehow I came to a halt. Otherwise I would have ended up somewhere down the Chogolungma side of the mountain, miles from anywhere. I had lost my glasses in the fall, so I made my way down the mountain in the dark wearing sunglasses which was a bit tricky!
