Steepness af the face

Hi, great picture.

How steep would this face be? I find it difficult to say what the angle is. Is this face much frequented in summer (cables)?

Re: Steepness af the face

I'm not sure exactly what the slope is, but I'd guess about 50 degrees. The thin veneer of ice and snow make it difficult to protect and dangerous to climb in winter. In summer, the cables allow hundreds to the summit on busy weekends - it get climbed more than any other peak in Yosemite, and possibly in the Sierras with the exception of Mt. Whitney. Without using the cables the rock is rated class 5.
