a good hike, shame about the concrete at base of the falls. Saw a bear and 3 cubs on descent- fantastic moment.

Long, Hot, Great  Sucess!

Started at 4:30 am, took most of the day due to slower climbers in my group. Mist up, JMT down. Out of water for a couple miles until Nevada falls, those faucets there are realy great (and popular!). Can't wait to come back, Cloud's Rest next time...

With the family  Sucess!

I have climbed the peak multiple times before. But this trip was with friends. Much fun, despite the lack of sleep.

Midnight hike  Sucess!

John Muir trail up, Mist trail down.

Left the parking lot at midnight, arrived on top around 5:30 a.m. We took a nice long break (45 minutes?) because we didn't want to arrive on top too soon and freeze ourselves before sunrise.

Sunrise was amazing. Highly recommended.

Took about as long to get down as it did to get up.

Suggestion for night hike: take JMT up (it's not as steep), Mist trail down (the waterfalls are absolutely amazing).

Cable Route  Sucess!

Hiked from Glacier Point, camped in Little Yosemite Valley. Ascended HD the next day and descended to Curry Village. Toughest hike yet. Trip Report

Tourist Route  Sucess!

Cables route as a dayhike, made a loop - up on JMT, down on mist trail. Someone wigged out on the cables during the descent, making for a big traffic jam.

Free three sides  Sucess!

NW Face, 1980.
First (climbing) trip to the Valley,I was sixteen, and climbed it with another 17 and 18 year old. My first wall. We had two of these new fangled things they called "Friends." All the rest was stoppers, hexes and youthful enthusiasm.

Snake Dike, the early '90s
Soloed it after a buddy and I go stormed off Mescalito and were on pout patrol. Next time I'll look at a top before leaving the rope at home.

My worst ascent was hiking up the cable to meet some friends on the NW Face and help them carry their gear down. I carried just a pack with two ropes and some gear but no sleeping bag, etc. Spent a long cold night on the summit only to find they bailed and day and a half earlier.

snake dike  Sucess!

We started in the valley around 445am. Wait at the base for two hours for three parties to clear. I would avoid Sat and early season next time.

Beautiful Morning Day Hike  Sucess!

Hiked via the Mist Trail and came back using the JMT. Absolutely beautiful ~16.5 mile hiking day, best of course to start early to beat the crowds (we started ~6am).

Long Hike  Sucess!

Whew what a long hike. It was well worth it though. I loved the cables at the last part of the ascent. My feet were killing me at the end of the day. Total was 17.5 miles.

My First Hike

Very difficult hike for me at the time. The three of us ran out of water at the top and almost literally sprinted down the mountain. It was a very hot day and we were desperate for water. Got down to our camp in just over an hour (that's how fast we were going/desperate we were for water). I would like to go back, but will bring better shoes, since my previous pair would not grip the side of half dome (had to completely rely on the cables/wooden planks).
