Cold, Snowy Day on Hallett Peak  Sucess!

Started from Bear Lake at around 7am. Icy on the first couple miles and had to wear spikes, but then it got a bit deeper and wasn’t too much an issue. Windless day up in Flattop Mountain, and then a lonely summit (had to break Trail) up to Hallett Peak. Beautiful day!

We took the trail to Flattop, wandered over to see the glacier, and decided to scramble Hallett. There was no trail then.

Independence Day climb with Brian. Fun and engaging climbing, nice top-out, and not too strenuous ridge slog up to the summit. Descent via Flattop. 10.5 hours car to car.

Powell Couloir Route  Sucess!

Started around 5:30AM. Trail already carved out to Sky Pond. Crampons and ice axe helpful for bottom of couloir. Sun warmed the upper section. Lots of loose snow avalanches seen on Taylor Peak, Taylor Glacier, and Powell Snowfields during ascent. Followed Continental Divide to climb Taylor, Otis, Hallett, and Flattop as well. Back at car around 3:45PM.

Northcutt-Carter Route  Sucess!

Beautiful weather and a fun route. Too bad it was mostly destroyed in a major rockfall in 1999.
Twisted my knee on the boulder field during the descent which kept me from climbing the next day. Luckily, it was fine after one day of rest.
With Paul.
Also climbed Yellow Spur in Eldorado Canyon.

Made a roundtrip from Bear Lake Trailhead via Otis (east ridge), Hallett and Flattop. Clear and sunny, but strong and cold wind on the summit. Great day though :)

From Otis  Sucess!

CMC trip. This was my second time on Hallett. We got Otis first, then headed over to Hallett, since the sky was looking good. There were a few other hikers on the summit. Hallett was a popular peak this day. Descended to Bear Lake via the Flattop Trail.

Great Summit  Sucess!

Climbed this after Otis and checking out the Andrews Glacier. The summit isn't really cool. The business side of the peak is the east side, well below the summit
