Haunting Clouds - Cirrus Uncinus

Haunting Clouds - Cirrus Uncinus

On the 4th February 2009 here at Wormshill in Kent this fantastic haunting looking cloud formation appeared at the time of the sunset. The clouds I believe after reading through a book are of the form known as Cirrus Uncinus meaning the threat of bad weather on the way. The sky looks like flames being blown with lines of smoke. Talking about bad weather this was when Kent had its large deposit of snow and the night after this sunset we had about another 12 inches.

Great Skies Indeed

At first I just wondered a little bit if this pic's mountainous but the ground does rise from left to right:-)
So miracles happen then - you've been getting snow while it smells of spring here, between Berlin and Kraków.
Cheers,
Jacek

Re: Great Skies Indeed

With the snow we have had has been over 12 inches here. Very cold weather. Now we have had 2 days of constant rain with our rivers swelling well from both the rain and of course the thawing snow...!
Looks like Kent is due for more flooding.
