Patrouille de GlaciersI was very honoured by the chance to compete against the ski mountaineering military teams from all over Europe in the legendary PDG 2002:

Unfortunately, the race was called off at Arolla (halfway through the Haute Route) due to avalanche danger.
I will never forget the experience I shared with Steve and Thomas! Awesome!

Haute Route.The Haute Route has many variations and can be busy but it is for good reason. The Haute Route has and will continue to tempt be back.

Haute Route via VerbierTo complete this tour was a long sought dream, and it took multiple attempts to complete. First try: in 1976, planned route Zermatt to Chamonix, unable to even start due to heavy snowfall (two meters of fresh snow) at the end of April.
Next try: in 1981 from Argentiere, bad weather (early May) & again unable to start. Attempt # 3 early April 1985, from Argentiere, via Verbier & Cabane de Mont Fort, I had to quit at the Cabane de Vignettes due to fevers & bad flu. The rest of the group continued to Zermatt.
My next try: in April 1986, back to Cabane de Vignettes with private guide from Arolla, we got stuck for 3 days at the Cabane due to terrible weather, then completed route to Zermatt when weather cleared (unable to proceed on to Saas Fee due to storm).
In April 1994, completed final leg of the route to Saas Fee from Zermatt (via Adler Pass). Every attempted tour was with a local guide.
In a nutshell, many unsuccessful attempts to complete the Haute Route Argentiere-Saas Fee due to bad weather but finally success after 18 years!!!
