Heavy Runner Mountain

Heavy Runner Mountain

Taken as we wrapped around the southeast shoulder of Reynolds Mountain on our way to Heavy Runner (slightly right of center, foreground), Going-to-the-Sun Mountain is located behind Heavy Runner, with Matahpi Peak to the left of GTTS. Further left, Mount Siyeh is the highest of three peaks visible past the shoulder of Reynolds. St. Mary Lake is at right. Photo by Vernon, September 4, 2009.

Re: beautiful

Thanks, Blake...

Heavy Runner Mountain is proving to be quite important in my GNP hierarchy. Rather unexpected when you consider how it towers below all its neighbors, and has almost none of the sharply sculpted contours so common to the Northern Rockies.

And that last bit to the real and true summit can only be described (at least by me) as fun, with the rappel being an absolute joy!

(And I still think it should be listed as one of the GNP "technical's.")
